PRACTICAL INNOVATION IN TIMES OF NEED
– AIR PURIFIERS BUILT AT LCE
In late 2024, when Lahore faced one of its harshest smog seasons, the LCE Makers Lab team responded with a timely and practical
innovation. Conducting rapid market research, the team designed and produced three models of air puri昀椀ers suited for spaces
of 400, 600, and 2,400 square feet, using locally sourced components and in-house fabrication. Equipped with HEPA 昀椀lters and
fans, the casings were precision-built at the Lab through CO₂ laser cutting and woodwork tools. These puri昀椀ers were swiftly
deployed across the LCE o昀케ces and Plug and Play Co-working Space, ensuring cleaner air for the community. Building on this
success, the team is now enhancing the models with microprocessors to enable real-time air quality monitoring and automated
fan adjustment, further advancing their functionality and impact.
